Beyond the Spectrum
Neurodivergent Parent Group
INFO COMING SOON!
What is neurodiversity?
Neurodiversity is the idea that brains come in all different shapes and sizes, and that's something to celebrate! It means that people think, learn, and experience the world in unique ways. Some people may have conditions like autism, ADHD, or dyslexia, but instead of seeing these as problems to fix, neurodiversity encourages us to understand and appreciate these differences. Just like how some people are left-handed or have a different eye color, neurodiverse brains bring new perspectives and strengths to the world!
Here are some of the diagnosis that neurodiverse individuals often receive: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Tourette Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Down Syndrome.

Hi! I’m Karla
Mommy to a neuro-spicy child! While I’m a full-time mom, it’s hard, but I try to find time to enjoy some hobbies. I love to crochet, listen to paranormal stories, and collect little trinkets.
I’m also obsessed with the Twilight Saga! #team Edward
My son was diagnosed with autism at the beginning of this year, 2024. My mommy's heart always knew that autism was in our lives. The day I received the diagnosis, I still felt sadness and anger. It felt as if my world stopped when I heard the word autism. Along the way, I’ve learned that it’s ok to feel all these emotions. It’s all part of this long journey.
It grew in my heart to help other parents going through this journey. Along the way, I met another mommy in my community with the same desire. We both came up with “Beyond The Spectrum,” where we will bring guest speakers, share resources, and provide a safe place for parents to share their experiences.
While I’m still new to this journey, I have been blessed with people in my life who have helped me and taught me how to advocate for my child. My dream is for this world one day to be more inclusive for all people with disabilities.
While I can’t change the world, I can try to make a change in my small community!
